Disney Bows to Woke Pressure with Splash Mountain Overhaul

Disney World has unveiled "Tiana's Bayou Adventure," a new ride replacing the beloved Splash Mountain, as part of its ongoing commitment to social justice. This transformation follows intense pressure from activists who criticized Splash Mountain for its connections to the controversial 1946 film "Song of the South." The new attraction, inspired by "The Princess and the Frog," reflects Disney's effort to align with contemporary cultural narratives.

Splash Mountain, a staple since 1992, was closed in January 2023, sparking mixed reactions among Disney enthusiasts. While some welcomed the change, others lamented the loss of a classic ride cherished by generations. This shift underscores a broader trend within Disney to reframe its attractions to meet modern standards of inclusivity and representation.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure aims to celebrate diversity, featuring a storyline centered on Princess Tiana and a Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans. The ride will maintain the log-flume mechanics of its predecessor but infuse the experience with new music, animatronics, and vibrant scenery reflective of the 2009 film.

Critics argue that this rebranding is another example of Disney capitulating to the pressures of "woke" culture. They contend that the entertainment giant is more focused on appeasing vocal minority groups than preserving its historical legacy and the cherished memories of long-time parkgoers. The replacement of Splash Mountain is seen by some as unnecessary pandering rather than a genuine effort to promote diversity.

Disney has also introduced new themed merchandise and food options, such as New Orleans-inspired beignets, to enhance the immersive experience of Tiana's Bayou Adventure. These additions aim to attract both new visitors and those nostalgic for the original ride's charm.

The company has implemented a virtual queue system for the ride's debut, allowing guests to join via the My Disney Experience app. This method aims to manage the high demand expected for the new attraction, reflecting Disney's broader efforts to modernize guest experiences.

As Disney continues to evolve its offerings, the transformation of Splash Mountain into Tiana's Bayou Adventure represents a significant shift in how the company addresses its historical content. While some view this as a positive step toward greater inclusivity, others see it as a loss of tradition in favor of contemporary social trends.

Overall, the opening of Tiana's Bayou Adventure is a notable example of how major corporations like Disney are navigating the complexities of cultural sensitivity and historical preservation in today's socially conscious landscape.

  1. I know it’s the go to place for the sake of building happy memories with your little children but maybe families need to realign their thoughts.find other ways to build happy memories rather than going to Disney.I wouldn’t go back there if I were given a free pass. Can you not see what Disney has become??? It’s become a large embarrassment,a totally corrupt mind set.Nothing more than pandering mindset.Do your children a favor, stay away from Disney and it’s controversial perverted mind set.If you feel the need to go there keep an eye on your kids. Can but imagine what goes on in the tunnel system under the entire park. Look for local venues, Six flags comes to mind.Disney is SO over rated.Take a trip to Yellowstone,or Grand Canyon. Your kids will be just as impressed.DISNEY R.I.P.
